The Locked-In Man is an audio recording about a boy named Martin Pistorius. At the age of twelve Martin gets meningitis a disease that infects the brain stem and spinal cord which could lead to paralyzation. He ended up being paralyzed and he goes through the same schedule everyday people taking care of him instead of himself he has all these thoughts about how he's powerless and weak. But as he grows older he starts to learn how to tell time using shadows and he doesn't try to forget his bad thoughts but to see them in a different light. He slowly takes control of his body by moving his eyes and squeezing his hand slightly. All the doctors thought he had the brain of a three month old so they put him in front of videos of Barney and he hated it because he knew he was smarter. One hopeful doctor thought that he still has his own brain so they tested him by moving his eyes towards the object and he passed. By practicing using a special keyboard for a year he learned how to type and communicate with others. By using his thoughts to bring hope to his mind he was able to overcome the bad thoughts that flooded his mind.

Harrison Bergeron Summary
In the short story “Harrison Bergeron”, the setting starts in the living room of Harrison’s parents George and Hazel in the year 2081. In the year 2081, everyone is equal because of the 212, 213, and 214 amendments. As Hazel and George watch TV in their living room, George, who is handicapped more than Hazel because he is smarter and stronger, he hears a sound from his ear monitor. This scatters his thoughts every 15 seconds so he doesn’t take advantage of his knowledge. He also has to wear bags of birdshot to keep him from using his strength. As they are watching the show which is about ballerinas the announcer reports that Harrison Bergeron has escaped from jail with plots to over throw the government. They show a picture of him on the screen, he is exactly seven feet tall. Suddenly the building shakes and the cameras blink off, when the cameras turn back on, Harrison is standing on the stage. The Handicapper General s are usually neat with how they setup their handicaps but Harrison looked like a landfill. He carried three hundred pounds, wore headphones instead of an ear monitor, a red clown nose and glasses to blur his vision. Harrison’s parents were shocked to see their son looking like that. He easily ripped off all his handicaps showing a man that would’ve been known as Thor. He asked which woman would be his empress. A ballerina stood up, Harrison removed her handicaps and took off her mask, she was beautiful. After Harrison and her dance around the stage, the Handicapper General, Diana Moon Glampers, comes in with a shotgun and shoots them both, leaving them dead. Then the TV turns off and George hears a sound. Hazel who doesn’t have a handicap forgets what just happens so when George asks what happened she just said something sad on the TV.

First Day Summary
The short story "The First Day" is a story that takes place in New Jersey. The story is about the mother and her little girl. When they realized they couldn't go to that school because it was outside the boundaries the schools serves. The mother was going to another school to put her daughter. When they gave her the packet to register into the school she needed help to read so she can answer the questions because the mother could not read or write. The mother had a face that the little girl did not understand and not recognize because she has never felt embarrassed before that she couldn't read or write. Then she was accepted into school and taken by this lady which she knew this was going her teacher. Before she left her mother told her to be good, stay in school, and she will be picked up later.
One thing I learned from the four corners about this story is that one good theme could be "It's ok to be different."

Huntington Library Reflection
My favorite garden at the Huntington Library was the Chinese garden. The Chinese garden is my favorite garden because of the beautiful landscape with the different bridges, buildings, and the great big pond. It shows a wonderful side of the Chinese Arts by using the lake as the central part of the big picture, surrounded by buildings, plants, bridges and rock features. The variety of plants all around the garden makes the garden feel special. The nice buildings and bridges that circle the pond add the Chinese Art to the big picture. The rock features in the back add the perfect look to complete the picture.
